A little bit

Downtown Canandaigua was our main agenda on our last day* in Upstate New York.

We had brunch at this little crepe (I cannot believe my friends and I have been pronouncing it wrong all this time! And I claim it to be one of my favorites, sheesh!) place, Simply Crepes, in which we ordered almost everything on their menu. I was craving for a bit of flavor in my mouth, so I asked for their Thai Style Crepes. The grilled chicken, Portobello mushrooms, fresh cilantro and crisp iceberg lettuce all went well with their special sweet and spicy Thai sauce. Perfection!

After taking care of the bill, we then had another shot at "tasting," but this time with oils and vinegars at F. Oliver's. The kids were happy to finally be able to join us but got restless after a few minutes, demanding to go back home and take a dip at the pool for what may be the last time in a long time. Tita Armi, Tita Jan, and I wanted to stick around downtown for a while longer as we drove past the neighborhoods in the area and allowed ourselves to be in awe of the vintage houses.

Soon enough, the packing and the goodbyes were a lot easier than expected, especially for the kids. Another get together with Tita Armi's family has already been set at the end of the month and I'm certain that everybody is excited. I definitely had a great four days with them, appreciated their hospitality, and am looking forward to seeing each and every one again.

Meanwhile, on our way back to Maryland, we still made the same stops (for coffee, potty, and dinner) but couldn't resist to add another: Monica's Pies. Last time my relatives left Canandaigua they noticed this tiny store at the side of the road and decided to give it a try. The verdict: ultimate yum! They wanted to come back ever since, and now I know why.

*Tuesday of last week, in case I too get confused
